Yeah, you're right, it doesn't work.  I don't have an easy solution
at the moment, short of introducing a new block markup.

I suspect the real answer will be the >>div<< markup, at which
point you'll be able to do:

    >>style1<< paragraph text goes here
    >>style2<< second paragraph text goes here
    >><<
