Basically PmWiki would just have to make a

	wget http://newly.installed.site/pmwiki.php/PmWiki/SomePage

and check the result. If it works, then it works and '?pagename=' isn't 
necessary. 

Actually, maybe PmWiki could use a set of self-tests working along this 
line that could be used to test the installation?

I do something similar in the PmWiki/InstallationQuickCommands, i.e. the 
bash commands that install PmWiki do a wget to check that the main page is 
rendered properly.
