I use MimeTeX quite a bit on wiki pages and it works ok, but you need to 
know your LaTeX. 

I'm curious though... with MikTeX installed, and only doing stand-alone 
stuff, why not write a LaTeX document directly? (Or use LyX, or TeXmacs or 
something)
