I still have some strange results, with "automatically setting the 
user"  in the edit form.

There is a internal varlable, which can be used like {$Author}  
->/BasicVariables
I'm not shure, whether this variable is meant to be the currently logged 
in user.
Is this the case?
In my case this variable ist never set., even if a user is logged in.

Strange enough, in an other installation, the field is set sometimes 
(depends on the user:-) .
If  {$Author} is set,  the author field is set aswell.
(both pmwiki-2.1.beta25)
