[pmwiki-users] Can't create new pages

Hi

I installed pmWiki V2.2.0-beta17 on a Linux machine.
If I want to create new pages I get the following error message:

PmWiki needs to have a writable wiki.d/Public/ directory before it can 
continue. You can create the directory manually by executing the following 
commands on your server:

Directory wiki.d has chmod 777.

Any hint what is wrong here?
