Dear pmWiki users
I have website “UnableToFindSkinProblem”, that I hope you can help with
on my pmWiki Pages at
http://ww2.usca.edu/ResearchProjects/ProfessorGurr/ (this site is
running OK now with out any problem, but of course on the older
original Beta 17 installation. )
My website is on pmWiki v 2.0 Beta 17 has been running successfully for
abut a year now, and I decided to upgrade to pmWiki v 2.1.5 in order to
be able to run the latest Version of TotalCounter.
This website is running on the University’s Windows Server, of recent &
up to date software version. I believe the php software is version 5.0
downloaded from an official php site.
After the new upgrades were in placed and checked, I found that my site
shows only a “Blank Browser Page”, with message:
PmWiki can't process your request ?unable to find skin from list bare.
Three other warnings were also there (see below) but these are of lesser
concern to me.
Please help with some suggested ideas or tests to try.
Henry Gurr
*My Procedures:*
In order to conduct the upgrade, I downloaded pmWiki v 2.1.5 from the
pmWiki.com site, then unzipped. Then copied and pasted each pmWiki
folder, in turn, from the unzipped folder to the Professor Gurr folder
on the server. In doing this, each of the old wiki folders were
over-written with the respective new version. The copy and paste is done
from my windows XP, my computer folders, to the corresponding folders
on the server. I access the server folders by “mapping a drive” on my
computer, which makes the file transfers on our university hi speed
fiber optic link.
I was careful not to do any thing to change the contents of the folders:
local/config, wiki.d, and a header image jpg, file.
My site administrator who did the original installation, did the very
thing your pages say not to: He placed pmwiki.php into a file labeled
index, with exit and several other following symbols and > at the end. I
preserved these, when I put the new pmwiki.php back into this file and
saved back into the same name.
*************
*I checked that each of the following *were transferred and had
approximately the correct number of bytes, and the contents had a
reasonable number of files inside as contrasted with the previously
working site files.
README.txt An introductory document
pmwiki.php The main PmWiki script
local/ Configuration scripts (local configuration files)
cookbook/ Recipes (add-ons) from the Cookbook
docs/ Brief documentation, sample configuration scripts

Here is the full warning message.* The last warning is about a problem
in PHP software itself and this I will take up with my server administrator.

Here are some of my re-checking steps:*
Prior to starting I read and then followed carefully the pmWiki
WebPages, with all the Download Requirements, Requirements for
installing PmWiki, Upgrade steps, Initial Setup Tasks, etc.
After I discovered the “Blank Page Problem”, I rechecked all my
installation files and folders. I have even perused all the Release
Notes pages, and change log and pwiki-users Archives for clues. These
were all very extensive but I saw nothing that would help with my
circumstance.
