[pmwiki-users] How to fix broken RSS feed and AllRecentChanges?

Many thanks for the suggestions.

The problem (in the PHP error log) is:
[27-Feb-2014 15:37:17] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 12582912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7446 bytes) in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\pmwiki\pmwiki.php on line 864

The line number varies a little (862,863,864). And I get the same error no matter what page I request with RSS.

I’ve tried the two suggestions:
* We’re now running pmwiki-2.2.61
* The Site/AllRecentChanges is only a few lines.

And I’m stuck. It looks to me as though the offending line is something to do with collecting global variables!

How do I make the RSS request not fail?

Best regards,

Charles

You could check the web server log, or better the php log, to see what errors might be happening under the hood.

As far as upgrading goes, PmWiki is pretty easy and reliable to update. I find it is really just a matter of copying the new release files over the old ones.
It is easy to copy your website (i.e. the root folder pmwiki), do an upgrade, and test, or backup the pmwiki root folder, do the upgrade, if no workie restore the original.

I've got AllRecentChanges back again - great! But I'm still stuck on the RSS feed - it seems to be something else. I agree it might help to upgrade PMWiki, but I view that with well-learned fear and trepidation. The actual problem is an error 500.

Is there a log somewhere that would tell me what's caused the problem?

It's possible that the two problems are related... the AllRecentChanges page may have gotten too large for PmWiki to update properly, and the RSS feed likes to use (All)RecentChanges to generate its content.

I suggest shortening (or removing/renaming) the AllRecentChanges page and see if it starts working again, then see if the RSS feed comes back.
