The feature is there. If someone uses it it's possible to break existing
links in the PmWiki documentation. By being more consistent in the
documentation we minimize the impact of someone using this feature and
breaking links.

Again, the proposal seems to be we can minimize the effects of this by
making the documentation more consistent with itself.

No comment. As far as I can see the code fix was welcomed. But the
proposition here is that we can minimize this by some simple documentation
changes.

I think Ed W was proposing he would change it. He was seeking guidance and
input on a single consistent way to move forwards.
