[pmwiki-users] after upgrade to apache 2.2 passwords don't work

we upgraded our webserver to apache 2.2. we copied over the pmwiki farm 
(pmwiki v2.0.12) and all of the passwords no longer wok, including the 
admin password which is set via the config file. 

The other passwords are set via the groupattrib.

any idea how i can fix this?
