thats  what I'm doing now. I want to link the wikicomand buttons (see 
http://pmwiki.netstreams.org) But so I have to tell the user that 
installs the skin, that he have to set the intermap link like you 
describet above. I thougt it would be easyer to but a variable like 
Attach:{$SkinDir}/edit.gif. So there would be no effort to install a 
field in a farm.
