But we *already* save the author name on the computer --
that's the default (and should be).

IIRC, the question at hand is whether the author name
survives ?action=logout, not whether the author name
is retained on the computer.  

Or are you advocating that the saving of author name be 
completely separated from ?action=logout ?  If this is the case, 
then after someone has indicated they want the author name saved
on a particular machine, how do they get it removed later?
