Hi all,
I just released the Mailform2 recipe. Description and download are on
http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/Cookbook/Mailform2 .
It is different from http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/Cookbook/Mailform in
these aspects:
1) It doesn't impose a layout on the page. (The downside is that you
have to set up your own table to do the layout.)
2) The user can select from a predefined set of recipients.
3) You can use different controls. For example, the input field for the
Subject: header could be a single-line input field so the user can enter
anything, or it can be a drop-down list so the user can enter only one
of a set of predetermined subjects, or it can be a "hidden field" or a
configuration variable so that the subject is predetermined.
4) You can preconfigure recipient, subject line, or text so that users
don't have to fill in everything. You don't even need to provide a
control (except for the "recipient" field, but even that could be made
optional if somebody wants that).
It is similar to http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/Cookbook/Mailform in this
aspect:
5) No mail addresses are ever sent to the user's browser.
No bugs are currently known. Reported bugs will be fixed within days.
This recipe is declared "beta": bugs may exist but shouldn't prevent the
recipe from generally functioning.
I'll declare the recipe "productive" (and bump the version number to
1.0) after six weeks of not receiving bug reports.
Regards,
Jo
P.S.: This is the second in a trilogy of recipes I'm working on. The
first was Input, the third will be a new Mailprotect module that turns
all mailto: links into references to an appropriately set-up Mailform2 page.
Unfortunately, paid work has interfered, so it will take a few weeks
until I can start work on Mailprotect.
