A side comment:

In an early version of PmWiki2-devel I had it configured so that
slashes in the group name were simply ignored... i.e., one could write

    http://mysite/Multimedia/Sound/OSS/SomePage 

and PmWiki silently converted it to "MultimediaSoundOSS.SomePage".
I did a similar thing for links between pages--i.e., 
"Multimedia/Sound/OSS/SomePage" in a link was treated the same way.
But several people said this was really confusing, so I took it out.
