[[append:xxx.xxx]] markup is not limited to a particular Group.Page.
You can have:

[[append:Cookbook.Hints]]

This is a cookbook hint.

[[append:]]

[[append:Development.Hints]]

This is a developer hint.

[[append:]]

[[append:Profiles.Tom]]

This is an addition to my profile page.
