[Pmwiki-users] Replace text on save?

Hi experts :),

is there a way to replace parts of the text when an author saves the
page? 

I am thinking of adding some kind of shortcut like ~~~ (better ideas?)
that will be replaced by

    - placed somewhere in the line (or only at end?)
        - if author is set: ''-- {{~Author}}''
        - if author is not set: ''-- 127.0.0.1''
    - starting at first position in line:
        - if author is set: '''{{~Author}}:'''
        - if author is not set: '''127.0.0.1:'''
when the page gets saved.

This would make it easier for authors to mark their changes or quotes.
Having the special version at the beginning of a line makes it easier to
create some sort of "chat".

PS: Adding some WikiStyle would make the shortcut even more interesting
