[Pmwiki-users] Parse error, unexpected T_VARIABLE

I'm trying to set up passwords. When I enter the following line (41) in
config.php

$DefaultPasswords['admin'] = crypt('armadillo');

and run PMWiki, I get this error message:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/kphayes/public_html/wiki/local/config.php on line 41

Any ideas on what's wrong?
