I simply wanted to re-examine the way we're describing and documenting 
categories before rebuilding those pages.  The problem is that the
documentation for categories will be included in the distribution,
so if the documentation depends on the existence of those pages then
they have to be included in the distribution as well (and I think that
"pollutes" the distribution somewhat).

[[!category]] still exists and I don't have any plans to remove it.
Indeed, I'm still wanting to create a CategoryMenu feature that
builds sidebar navigation menus based on the current page's category 
membership(s).
