STP *really* stands for Strawberry Propulsion Transport.
All became clear to me when I flipped (top/bottom) the time-series photos (fig 4) back into its obviously original form. It is then clearly revealed as a toaster-rocket jammed against the ceiling by the incredible thrust from this heretofore ultra-secret missile launch system, designed by those fiendishly clever minds in Battle Creek, Michigan.
