Thanks. I figured it was something simple. I could be wrong, but
there doesn't seem to be any obvious reference or link to
'configuration tips' at the FixFlow skin or it's associated pages.

IMHO it would seem logical, and perhaps more useful, if (optionally?)
the default skin configuration could be in some sort of
'Site.SkinDefaults' file that the admin could edit while online. Just
a couple thoughts...

I can't seem to find any info about how to set a default style in
FixFlow. Logically, it would seem to be something in a page
Site.FixFlow-Configuration, but that page doesn't seem to provide any
thing other than generic info on style options. These appear to work
for for setting a style on your local computer, but don't appear to
change the default style for anyone else that visits the site. I recall
reading about setting default skin style options in config, but can't
find anything about that, other than the skin to use.

you need to set defaults for FixFlow in config.php.
see
http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/Cookbook/GeminiTips
(both Gemini and Fixflow share the same configuration tips).
Use the same keywords for a default setting than it is used for a
user setting, for instance
$DefaultColor = 'silver';
