<div>Just a couple of observations on the FAQ markup to keep in mind.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I recently added a FAQ entry to the Troubleshooting page, which
already contained >>faq<< markup followed by Q&A.
When I checked the PmWiki FAQ page, there were no entries for
Troubleshooting. I went back and checked the
Site.PageListTemplates, which refers to #faq anchor, but also notes
that the faq pagelist "can also be expensive, especially if the list
includes pages that don't have the <CODE class=escaped>[[#faq]]</CODE>
anchor!" So I went back and added the anchor and checked the
results on the PmWiki FAQ page, which now displayed the Troubleshooting
entries but also included the wikitrail markup from the Troubleshooting
page. So I moved the wikitrail markup above the #faq anchor, and
everything works.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The point of this is just to remind eachother about how the pagelist
faq used on PmWiki FAQ works and to suggest that if you have added faqs
to other pages, you might take a minute to check the PmWiki FAQs page to
confirm whether the result is as you expect. If not, take a minute
to go back to the originating page and fix the problem.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>As for the #faqend anchor: The PageListTemplates uses both #faq
and #faqend to deliminate the text that will be included in the
pagelist. If you leave off the ending anchor, the included text
will continue to the end of the page, which is fine if the page follows
Pm's suggestion that FAQs be appended to the end of pages *after*
everything else, including the wikitrail. Belts and suspenders
types might be tempted to play it safe by always including the #faqend
anchor, just to be safe, but that might have the unitended consequence
of cutting off FAQ (for example, if one person accidently places their
FAQ after the #faqend, subsequent users might not notice the anchor
buried between FAQ and may just go ahead and append their new FAQ).</div>
