[pmwiki-users] Authentication options

Is there a recipe which allows users to self-register and send them a
confirmation email?

Alternatively, I could use the PunBB forum I have, but then is there a
way to integrate the accounts from PunBB with pmwiki? (PunBB uses
Mysql).

Any recommendations?
