[pmwiki-users] accent and url

I have solved a "similar" problem by adding a strtr in my code.
But this way is probably not applicable all the time, and I just see now two variables in diag called 
[GroupPattern] => [[:upper:]][\w]*(?:-\w+)*
    [NamePattern] => [[:upper:]\d][\w]*(?:-\w+)*
    
Maybe if we can know what to put here we have a standard way to change the accents
Who can help?

I really need to find a way to filter special chars in pagenames/url. 
The only help I found with the server is they tells me "special chars 
are forbidden".
