How steep?  Is anyone actively headed down that slope; i.e., do we 
actually have any existing recipes that are having to maintain two 
versions because of (:(no)?linebreaks:), or that someone wants to use
but cannot because of this item?

I don't mind resolving the problem if it's truly an issue, but unless
someone is presently stymied by this I'd much rather spend my time 
working on things that have more immediate benefit.
