I think having a recipe for sharing a group over a farm is a good idea. 
That's what I do today with the group 'Site/', but that isn't perfect. 
Some of the pages are better kept local to a wiki (e.g. AllRecentChanges).
Then again, some of the pages you want common for the farm, e.g. 
Site.InterMap.
