[pmwiki-users] utf-8 and special characters

A German pmwiki user asked me for help, and I don't know enough about it:
He uses utf-8 encoding, and special German characters like äöü appear
as questionmarks.
I tried it and can confirm it. Not loading the utf-8 script solves
this problem, but he wants to use utf-8. Can German umlaut characters
be produced with utf-8 enabled in pmwiki?
