I looked and could not see the problem your are talking about.  I 
checked with a couple of browsers.  I also noted that the page has not 
been changed since your post.

Is it possible that what you are observing is related to the skin and/or 
fonts?

The rendered words are specially stylized WikiWord links (vardocs.php) 
that may use a font where the capital letter "W" may not look as big as 
it does when you view the underlying markup on the edit page.

For what its worth, note that vardocs.php specifies that these special 
variable definition links consist of a dollar sign followed by a 
WikiWord.  Maybe you could try enabling WikiWords on your site and 
seeing if you can find some similar behavior.
