[pmwiki-users] Bug using quote marks?

I'm getting extra backslashes in rendered markup.  Here is the markup I 
am using:

This is a "test."
*This is a "test."

It displays in my browser like this:

This is a "test."
 * This is a \"test.\"

Is this a bug?  Or is there some other markup needed when using quote
marks in a list to prevent the backslashes from appearing?

I am using pmwiki version 2.1beta26, FireFox 1.5.0.1, PHP v.5.04, and 
Apache v. 1.3.34 on Linux.

In my config.php file, I enabled wikiwords and spaced wiki words.
