By reading this the question pops up: why not setting the two space  
delemiter between the $Group.$Name and the pipe?

     $RecentChangesFmt['$Group.RecentChanges'] =
         '* [[$Group/$Name  |$Titlespaced]] . . . $CurrentTime $[by]  
$AuthorLink: [=$ChangeSummary=]';
