Hear, hear! 

My suggestion to have WikiWords disabled by default has almost nothing
to do with "copying wikipedia" -- indeed, duplicating wikipedia and
mediawiki has never been a goal of mine, nor do I think that it's
the "gold standard" that everyone else should be emulating.  PmWiki 
has a different audience, and different goals.

My wish to disable WikiWords by default was simply so that new authors
and administrators don't have to deal with the inevitable questions
of preventing things like "CPUs", "PhDs", "McDonald", "WebCT", etc.
from being turned into links, or the subsequent pain of always
placing ` or [=...=] with false wikiwords.
