At the moment there's not a way to do this in the core -- we would 
need to keep a "scratchpad" file of sorts somewhere that keeps track 
of each edit request.

(Note that PmWiki doesn't have a concept of pages being "checked out"
for editing -- edits and posts can occur at any time.)
