Two thoughts:
1. Obviously *some* Mac users will use the terminal for such a
simple operation. :-) :-) PmWiki has used this particular upgrade
mechanism since its inception, and you're the first Mac user to
report any sort of problem with it.
2. What can we do to make upgrades better for Mac admins? I don't
think we can easily split pub/ at this point, and making distributions
without local/ or cookbook/ might cause more overall confusion than they
save.
