While this may be valid in some ways, it has the potential to lead to badness,
such as spammers then using the main page (although, less likely, as that
would be noticed) or some other page. Not to say it is a bad idea, just to
highlight a possible issue.
The banning of specific links works as a reactionary measure (you could also
expand the idea into a simple content filter, if you liked). I have also seen
the idea of having anything in a non-approved list of sites having to be run
by an admin-type before that particular link is 'accepted' (I've been reading
about this over the past few days, it's a subject I find quite interesting.
I'm one of those people who collects email spam to play with filters, and see
where it came from, and so on:)
