Just a tip for you meanwhile: Use an editor that's capable of editing with 
the files remotely. E.g. Emacs allows you to use 'ange-ftp' to edit files 
over ftp, or you can use TRAMP which in addition allows you to edit 
files over an SSH account.

IIRC, Ange-FTP comes with Emacs in the default installation.
