Should have read the whole digest before replying...

Scripts does give the impression of standalone programs. So does 
utilities.
In most graphics programs (at least on the macOS), that kind of thing 
lives in extensions. Modules also works, since it conveys the real 
meaning of those scripts, bits of functionality called by the main 
script.
