If we use {{--name}} as "identity markup" (as opposed to "signature 
markup"), then one would have to sign things as --{{--name}},
and that seems like too many hyphens to me.  Example:

   I think that {{--Scott}} should talk to {{--JF}}.
      --{{--Pm}}
