Write it as [=8 * 3 + 75 * 14=] then. But I do understand your point.

All of these cases involve source code and math embedded in a wiki page. 
   In my mind these are special cases, the emphasis should be on writing 
*text*. Primarily because people who are messing around with source code 
(or designing forms with blank fields) can probably handle the [= =] 
syntax. But again, we're talking about an arbitrary line in the sand 
here, and I understand your point.

Thanks for the regex expressions for handling these cases, I am terribly 
at regexes. I will give them a try and see what problems I run into. I 
am still very interested in your opinions on the (newline != new line) 
issue.
